Innovation Factory
Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (C/AV's) are coming! It will be a monumental shift in transportation technology not seen since the transition from horse drawn carriages to automotive vehicles. The challenge for municipalities like the City of Hamilton is the infrastructure needed to support hyper-connected C/AV's on our roads - what will this infrastructure look like, how will it support C/AV's and what other uses can this infrastructure be put to in order to justify the significant cost of deployment?
CITM @ Innovation Factory is at the forefront of trying to find the answers to these questions. We have deployed a infrastructure test bed at the McMaster Innovation Park consisting of IoT data collection points connected via 4G/LTE and fibre optics back haul networking to the cloud. Your challenge is to look to the future with this infrastructure test bed and envision use cases that will either enable (1) a smarter C/AV better prepared to be on our city streets or (2) a more connected city that is better enabled to serve it's inhabitants. This is your chance to "imagineer" the environment of the future that you will be living in!
All supporting documentation can be found here: https://www.citm.ca/deltahacks as well as at the Innovation Factory workshop.
